Why Towit Requires Identity Verification
At Towit, we prioritize the safety and security of our users. Whether you’re listing a trailer or renting one, it is critical to know exactly who you’re interacting with. That’s why we require all users to complete a comprehensive identity verification. This process not only protects our community but also creates a trusted environment for all transactions.
How Stripe’s Identity Verification Protects Towit Users
Towit partners with Stripe, the global standard in financial infrastructure, to securely confirm the identity of each user. Stripe Identity protects our community by:
- Verifying Real People: Utilizing advanced biometric technology to ensure the person renting a trailer matches the ID provided.
- Blocking Fraudsters: Deploying machine learning to detect and block counterfeit IDs and spoofed photos before a transaction occurs.
- Staying One Step Ahead: Continuously updating verification models to stay ahead of emerging threats and ensure maximum safety.
- Secure Private Data: Stripe isolates sensitive data, and programmatically deletes biometric data after one year.
What You’ll Need for Verification
To get verified on Towit, Stripe requires:
- A valid, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
- A camera-enabled device (mobile phone, tablet, etc.)
When capturing your ID and selfie, make sure they are clear and well-lit. Poor images are the most common cause for legitimate users being mistakenly rejected.
How to Complete the Verification Process
When completing a transaction for the first time, you will be prompted to verify your identity.
- On mobile: Simply follow the on-screen instructions.
- On a computer: If your computer does not have a webcam, a QR code will appear. Scan the code with your phone’s camera to seamlessly complete the process on your mobile device.
